Rhode Island arrival and time with Emma and Will

Sunday, March 15 - PM
I arrived in North Kingstown about 5:30 pm.  It was great to get to Rhode Island.  The house was pretty busy following a busy few days with Shelagh's Mom passing away.  There was lots to do.

Monday, March 16
Will and Emma had school and I needed to go visit the Wickford rental and see if it would work for Don and I.  I drove thru town and this is what I saw.

The address is 60 Main Street.  Linda met me and I liked her right away.  Nice lady, very interested in sharing with me the history of the home and explain all the details about the apartment.  It was spotless and crisp and comfy looking.  Very inviting.  I liked it right away - every bit of it.  So, I told her I would take it.  This entrance on the side will be my entrance.

The kitchen is complete with dishes and pots and pans and a small dishwasher!  There is also a washer and dryer in the unit.

This is a little sun room with a couch, ceiling fan and lots of windows.   I might spend a lot of time sitting in this room.

Living Room

I drove down to the end of the street, here's what I saw.

In the afternoon Shelagh and I went over to the nursing home and we started packing up Barb's clothes and things.  She needed to find bills and papers and sort thru things.  It was very sad.

Tuesday, March 17
Shelagh and I went to the nursing home to visit Bill.  He wasn't doing too well, he didn't seem to know us - especially me.

Thursday, March 19
This was my first day alone with the kids.  I spent the morning time on emails and catching up on my internet stuff.  Then needed some jeans at Kohl's.  Found some good chowder at Dusty's near Dave's market.  It was a good day.
Will and I went to Emma's school in the evening for an Art Fair.

Friday, March 20
I drove down to Wickford again, wanted to drive past the house again and just meander around.
Next was a little shopping again at Kohl's and the Dave's for a few things.

I was meeting the bus and picking up Emma and Will.  Emma had an appointment and then was going to her girlfriends for the night.  Will and I would have dinner and go home and read or watch videos.

Saturday, March 21
Will and I woke up to snow!  Just what I DIDN'T want when I was driving east!  I was hoping there would be NO MORE snow or ice!  I found a broom to brush off the car and scrape off the ice from the windsheld.  Will had fun sliding around the driveway.  We started the car and waited for Emma to be dropped off, so we could head to his birthday party.

Saturday was a busy day!  Emma and I drove Will to his birthday party and then headed back to Wickford for a pedi/mani.  There was only time for a pedi, tho, as we had to drive back to pick up Will.

Saturday was WAY too busy.  Once we picked up Will we found a Panera for lunch.  Then we headed back to North Kingstown for a little break.  Grammy cleaned up the kitchen a little and we decided to go to the trampoline place.  Emma and Will both had a lot of fun there!

Dinner was at Rhody Joe's and at home Grammy tripped in Will's room and hurt her knee!  Ouch!

Sunday, March 22

Breakfast at Jitters!

Then Emma had two soccer games and Will kept busy on the sidelines!  Go Emma!

This week while I was taking care of Will and Emma I learned how much Emma loves her brother, Will.  She is an amazing big sister.  Here she is reading to Will.

And at Emma's school there was a little music program.  The seats filled up quickly, and there was no room for Will to sit.  Emma reached out for him and grabbed his hand and pulled him onto her lap in the front row!  What a great sister!

Mike and Shelagh were flying home from Florida late Sunday evening.

Monday, March 21

Lobster dinner for Mike and Pat.  A treat for my Monday night dinner before leaving for my month travels!
